Hagenstein Lecture Series Launches in Portland 

The Hagenstein Lectures, an exciting community event presented by the World Forestry Center and the Society of American Foresters, debuted Sunday, October 9 at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon under the theme of “Emerging Voices in Forestry.” Five young foresters under the age of 45, working at the forefront of social, economic, and environmental change were featured, including:

, Washington State Forester, Washington Department of Natural Resources; Mike Dockry, Research Forester, US Forest Service Northern Research Station; Sue Baker, Research Fellow, University of Tasmania; Eric Farm, Coastal Operations and Marketing Manager, Barnes and Associates; and Abe Wheeler, State Lead O & C Forester, Bureau of Land Management Oregon/Washington State Office.

The Hagenstein Lecture Series has been developed to honor the legacy and memory of professional forester William D. Hagenstein, a tireless champion of long-view forest management to provide tangible environmental, social, and economic benefits. He is recognized as the father of native tree reforestation in the Pacific Northwest.
