Hagenstein Lecture Series Under Way 


The Hagenstein Lectures, a community event presented by the World Forestry Center and SAF, debuts October 9 at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon, under the theme of “Emerging Voices in Forestry.” Five young foresters under the age of 45, working at the forefront of social, economic, and environmental change, will be featured as speakers. The Hagenstein Lectures brings together influential young urban professionals who are interested in the future of future of the world’s forests with guest speakers (under the age 45) who are working on the ground in forests around the world. By combining their “Emerging Voices,” the series intends to create a robust and ongoing local-global conversation about opportunities to advance sustainable forestry in the 21st century. The Hagenstein Lectures have been developed to honor the legacy and memory of professional forester William D. Hagenstein, a tireless champion of forest management and recognized as the father of native tree reforestation in the Pacific Northwest.
