SAF Announces National Awards Recipients
The Society of American Foresters has announced its national awards recipients for 2016. The awardees will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the profession of forestry in a ceremony at the 2016 SAF National Convention in Madison, Wisconsin, in November.
The award winners are listed below and here in more detail
- Young Forester Leadership Award - Fran Cafferata Coe, a graduate of Oregon State University in 2000, and a member of SAF since 2007
- Outstanding Forestry Journalism Award - Kyle Dickman, contributing editor, Outside Magazine and former hotshot firefighter
- Carl Alwin Schenck Award - Dr. Allan Houston, CF, research professor in the department of Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries at the University of Tennessee
- Sir William Schlich Memorial Award - Dr. Robert Malmsheimer, professor of Forest Policy and Law at the State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry
- John A. Beale Memorial Award - Eugene Stoots, Jr., CF, regional forester, Virginia Department of Forestry
- W.D. Hagenstein Communicator Award - Dr. Mark Vodak, forestry extension specialist at Rutgers University
- Award in Forest Science - Dr. David N. Wear, senior scientist and project leader at the Center for Integrated Forest Science at North Carolina State University
- Technology Transfer Award - Dr. James McCarter, research associate professor In the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources, College of Natural Resources, North Carolina State University
