Statement
of Society of American Foresters (SAF) on
the Election of Donald Trump
SAF President Clark Seely said today, “The Society of American Foresters’
12,000 members nationwide look forward to working with President-elect Trump
and the new Congress and providing the scientific and best practice information
that allows America’s forests to thrive. Our mission is to advance
sustainable management of forest resources through science, education, and
technology. We will work with the Trump administration and Congress to sustain
the many economic, environmental, and social benefits forests can and do
provide. These include healthy rural
economies, renewable forest products, clean air and water, wildlife habitat,
and recreation. We remain committed to
creating opportunities for our broad and diverse membership to engage on these
issues.”
The SAF Board, staff and members are ready to work with the Trump
Administration during this period of transition to provide the information
needed to develop and implement strategies that enhance forest health and
productivity and deliver on the desire of SAF Founder Gifford Pinchot, “to
provide the greatest good for the greatest number in the long run.”
