2018 SAF National Convention
Portland, Oregon • October 3-7 • Forest Policy and Science-Management Interactions
The 2018 SAF National Convention in Portland, Oregon, will explore the differences between policy and politics, and how science, management, and policy interact and integrate to inform and influence the conservation of forested landscapes.
From an overview of Pacific Northwest forests to perspectives on how and why science and science communication should remain policy neutral and the challenges of transforming forest policy into effective natural resource management, plenary sessions will consider the role of science in policy decisions such as wildland fire policy, the role of scientists and managers in the policy process, and why policy makers don’t “listen to us”.
