SAF Board of Directors: Candidate Nomination Process

Materials for elections in 2021, leading to service beginning in 2022, are due June 1, 2021.

SAF's Board of Directors provides leadership and direction to the SAF to ensure the achievement of its mission. The president, vice-president, immediate past-president, and 11 elected members (one from each voting district) serve on the Board.

Board members serve three-years terms, with several districts electing new directors each year (see rotation below). A vice president is elected every year to a three-year term, serving as vice president, president, and immediate past president.

Nominations for vice president and Districts 1, 4, 7, and 10 for 2020  are closed. Elections take place in October, with terms beginning January 1. Newly elected members should plan on attending the December 4-6, 2020, SAF Board meeting in the Washington, D.C. area for shadowing and orientation.

Nominations for vice president and Districts 3, 6, and 9 for election in 2021 are being sought.

Interested candidates should complete the consent form (board members or vice president ) and biography form  (includes vision statement and photo request) and email to Lori Rasor.

Candidates need to review the SAF Board Policies Manual (BPM) and certify on the consent form their ability and willingness to comply with the BPM. A Board of Directors Job Description is provided here .

District Board Member Rotation

Election in 2020, starting term in 2021: Districts 1, 4, 7, 10 -- Nominations closed
Election in 2021, starting term in 2022: Districts 3, 6, and 9 -- Nominations due June 1, 2021
Election in 2022, starting term in 2020: Districts 2, 5, 8, and 11

Vice President is voted on an annual basis.
