Advocacy Advice for SAF Members
Forestry professionals have a responsibility and a vested interest in educating the public and decision makers about the practice of forestry. SAF members pledge to use the knowledge, skills, and conservation ethic of the profession to ensure the continued health and use of forest ecosystems and the present and future availability of forest resources to benefit society.
As leaders in SAF, you may be asked by the Government Affairs Team, local SAF policy leaders, and/or the Committee on Forest Policy to share your knowledge and experiences to educate and help influence policy. Don’t be shy — advocacy is for everyone. As a constituent, you are the ideal grassroots advocate to convey to legislators how essential forests and forestry are to your community.
