Sustainable Urban Forests Coalition Submits FY 2018 Appropriations Testimony

June 8, 2017

The Sustainable Urban Forests Coalition (SUFC) submitted its FY 2018 testimony to the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies.

As a member of SUFC, SAF joins more than 30 national organizations and corporations representing hundreds of thousands of professionals and millions of supporters who care and support sustainable trees and green infrastructure where people live.

The testimony highlights a number of programs across the USDA Forest Service, Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Park Service that help maintain and expand urban and community forests and green infrastructure in communities of all sizes. The testimony also asks the subcommittees to reject the drastic cuts proposed in the President’s FY 2018 budget, particularly the zeroing out of important and effective programs like Urban and Community Forestry, Landscape Scale Restoration, and Community Forests and Open Space Conservation.
