Free Access Period for SAF Journals

February 9, 2018

The Society of American Foresters (SAF) announces a temporary free-access period to its prestigious journals: Journal of Forestry, Forest Science, and the Northern, Southern, and Western Journal of Applied Forestry. Now through March 1, 2018, SAF invites members and nonmembers alike to explore the new tools and capabilities offered through our relationship with the Oxford University Press and the Silverchair platform, which powers Oxford Academic to host the journals.

Want to make the most of your time on the Oxford Academic platform? Sign up for email alerts announcing newly published issues and ahead-of-print online access to articles just by using your email address. Explore Altmetric scores for all published articles. Browse the archive of all articles published in SAF’s journals over the year—all the way back to the 1902 full-length issue of Journal of Forestry.

“There’s so much in store for readers and subscribers via the Oxford Academic platform,” said Jennifer Kuhn, SAF’s Director of Publications. “I encourage all members and subscribers to log in and access the site, get comfortable with the bells and whistles, and find content that can help SAF extend its mission.”

SAF signed a contract to publish its journals with the Oxford University Press earlier this year. When the free-access period concludes, members and subscribers will access SAF’s journals through their membership access points or institutional subscriptions.
