SAF Supports Maintaining Licensing in Georgia

July 11, 2018

In a letter signed by SAF President Dave Lewis, SAF expressed its strong support for maintaining Georgia's forester licensing program because it is an important mechanism to achieve public and private management goals and uphold confidence in the profession.

The State of Georgia is currently conducting a review of the need to have a Board of Registration for Foresters. The review is being conducted by the Georgia Occupational Regulation Review Council, a division of the Office of Planning and Budget, and includes evaluation of the following three points:

The nature of potential harm to the public if the business or profession is not regulated
The extent to which consumers need and will benefit from a method of regulation
The expected cost of regulation

The review period is June 2018 through August 2018.
