SAF2022 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

GENERAL QUESTIONS

When and where is the 2022 SAF National Convention?

This year’s convention will take place September 20-24, 2022, in Baltimore, MD at the Baltimore Convention Center. 

What is the address for the Baltimore Convention Center?

How can I book a hotel?

SAF has partnered with two hotels for SAF2022, the Marriott and the Days Inn. To see the discounted nightly rates for each hotel, visit our Lodging webpage . The deadline to book reservations is August 26, 2022.

Will there be a virtual component of SAF2022? 

Yes. All Plenaries and Thursday Think Tank sessions, as well as many concurrent technical sessions, will be recorded and available for on-demand viewing six weeks after the in-person convention. Access to SAF2022: On Demand will be complimentary to all in-person attendees. Those who do not wish to attend in-person but are interested in viewing content and receiving CFEs can register separately to access the on-demand site. Registration for this additional event will open in September 2022. 

When will the schedule of concurrent technical sessions be available?

We are reviewing proposals now and will have a full schedule available in July. 

When and where will future conventions take place? 

We are excited to announce the dates and locations of our next three conventions: 
SAF2023: October 25-29, 2023 – Sacramento, CA
SAF2024: September 15-19, 2024 – Loveland, CO
SAF2025: October 23-27, 2025 – Hartford, CT

Registration

When will registration open?

Registration opened on May 1, 2022 and will remain open throughout the live event. Early-bird, regular, and onsite registration rates are available. Registration prices and policies can be found here . 

How will I know that I am registered?

All registered attendees will receive a confirmation by email from [email protected] to the email address listed in your SAF account profile (please check your junk/spam folder).  This information is your receipt and verifies the event(s) and/or additional fee sessions for which you have signed up, and how much you have paid.  If you have questions regarding your registration, please contact [email protected].

What are the refund, cancellation, and substitution policies?

All refund, cancellation, and substitution policies, as well as others, can be found on the Registration webpage

How will I receive my registration badge?

When you arrive at the Baltimore Convention Center, please visit our registration booth on the second floor. SAF staff will be assisting with the check-in process, verifying the identity of attendees, and handling all COVID-19 attestation forms. A photo ID will be required to pick up badges/materials.  Badges or other official SAF identification must be worn to all official SAF2022 events.

How late can I register?

Onsite registration will be available during the live event until September 24. There are early-bird, regular, and onsite rates.

Can I register for just one day?

Single day registration is available. Visit the registration webpage for more information. 

Cancellation Questions 

What happens if I need to cancel my registration?

We encourage you to email [email protected] with “Cancel SAF2022 Registration” in the subject line and ensure you provide your name and phone number in the body of your email. Alternatively, you can call (202) 938-3910, M-F, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET.

Can I switch my registration to another person?

If you registered individually and require a refund, you will need to cancel and the other person register. If you do not require a refund, please send an email to [email protected] with “SAF2022 Registration Transfer” in the subject line, instructing us to transfer your registration to the named individual, including that person’s full name, email address, and phone number. We encourage you to copy that individual on the email to make them aware of your request.

What is the deadline to cancel my registration?

You may cancel your registration and request a full refund until 6:00 PM ET on September 1, 2022. A $75 administrative fee will be deducted from the total refund due. Refund requests received after that date will not be accepted except in the case of a personal emergency occurring on or before September 20, 2022. SAF reserves the right to request verification prior to issuing a refund.

Will I get a refund if I cancel?

You will receive a refund, less an administrative fee of $75, if you cancel before 6:00 PM ET on September 1, 2022.

Continuing Education

How many CFEs can I earn?

From Tuesday through Saturday, you can earn up to 29.5 CFEs in Category 1. Stay tuned for SAF2022: On Demand details to access additional CFEs after the live event.

What do I need to do to earn CFEs at the live event?

Complete the provided CFE attendance sheet accessible within your onsite program. You will submit your completed CFE attendance sheet at the registration desk or CFE drop boxes dispersed throughout the convention center no later than 6:00 PM (local time) on Friday, September 23. 

What if I forget to submit my CFE attendance sheet for live event by 6:00 PM (local time) on Friday, September 23?

CFEs earned from the live event must be submitted by the specified time. CFEs for the live event will not be accepted if the sign-in sheet is received afterwards, so don’t return home with your attendance sheet.

How do I earn CFEs if I attend Saturday tours?

All tour attendees will check in with their tour leads who will submit a group attendance sheet to SAF National at the end of the tour.

Will International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) be available?

SAF will request the program to be CEU approved by ISA. More details will be shared as they are available. ISA CEUs would only be available for the live event, so be sure to plan accordingly.

Will you issue CFE certificates?

SAF will not be issuing certificates as documentation for earning CFEs. Your SAF CFE online record will track your CFEs earned. There is a nominal service fee ($30) if you are neither an SAF member or certified with SAF as a Certified Forester or Candidate Certified Forester. Contact [email protected] to pay the CFE review and tracking fee.

When will my CFEs from the live event show in my CFE record?

CFEs will appear in your record within 3-4 weeks after the event. 

Can my CFEs rollover to the next certification cycle?

CFEs will not rollover to the next certification cycle.
