Apply Now: SAF's 2023 Student Diversity Scholar Program

January 19, 2023

SAF is accepting applicants for the 2023 Student Diversity Scholar Program. This program aims to intentionally bring together students from underrepresented groups in forestry and natural resources to help them navigate, grow, and thrive in the profession. This scholarship provides a year of engagement opportunities for selected students through tailored mentorship, leadership, and networking and a full scholarship to the SAF National Convention in Sacramento, CA. Scholars will also receive one complimentary year of SAF membership.

The application period for the Student Diversity Scholar Program is now open until February 15, 2023. To be eligible, the applicant must be in an undergraduate (associate or bachelor’s) or graduate (master's or PhD) forestry or related natural resources program at a US institution. The application form can be found on the Grants and Scholarships webpage under the Community tab.

To offer further support and guidance, each student will be paired with a mentor based on their career interests and goals. Scholars and mentors will work together throughout the year, but the hope is for these connections to extend beyond the year to help scholars continue to grow and learn.

If you have any questions, please contact SAF’s Natural Resource Policy Specialist, Tony Mazza, at [email protected].

Please spread the word and encourage students you think might be interested!
