The Kurt Gottschalk Science Fund promotes the transfer of knowledge with projects that advance forestry through new and ongoing research, enhanced technological applications, and diverse continuing education activities to benefit the professional and the public further facilitating science-informed management decisions. Foresters Fund

Established to promote forestry education and enhance public understanding of forest management, the Foresters Fund advances the efforts of state societies, divisions, and chapters with grants up to $5,000. Next deadline: June 15.

Hill Young Professional Grants

The Thomas Hill Jr. Education and Opportunity Fund provides financial resources to SAF young professional members (those under the age of 40) to support projects benefiting local, regional, or national young professional communities. Grants up to $1,000 are available. Deadline: May 15.

Scholarships

Student Diversity Scholar Program

This program aims to intentionally bring together students from underrepresented groups in forestry and natural resources to help them navigate, grow, and thrive in the profession. Through mentoring and engagement opportunities throughout the year, each cohort will develop leadership and networking skills and create community among each other and the broader SAF network. The program includes a full scholarship to the SAF National Convention. The 2024 application period is now closed.

Gregory Award

The Gregory Award brings outstanding international students to the annual SAF National Convention to engage with members, students, and professionals from across the US. Through this experience, awardees will expand their professional network, explore career development opportunities, and become international ambassadors for SAF. Resource Management Service, LLC and SAF Scholarship

To promote the forestry profession for future generations, Resource Management Service, LLC and SAF are jointly sponsoring a scholarship program to support students who would benefit from additional financial assistance and students from underrepresented groups earning an undergraduate degree in a forestry-related field. Deadline: April 15.  

Hill Student Scholarships

The Thomas Hill Jr. Education and Opportunity Fund provides scholarships to SAF student members to offset expenses related to attending an undergraduate program in forestry or a related natural resources field. Deadline: May 15.
