For Brent Olson, supporting and improving the Loess Hills was his life.

Now, his dedication to these scenic hills will be honored in a prominent fashion permanently during a special ribbon-cutting event this upcoming week.

The Brent S. Olson Memorial Visitor Center dedication will be held Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Loess Hills State Forest Headquarters, 206 Polk St., Pisgah.

Activities during the program will include comments by State Forester Paul Tauke and State Lands Leader Jeff Goerndt, a tree planting in Olson’s honor and a presentation of memorial artwork, commissioned by the Loess Hills Alliance.
