Dr. Scott Roberts Begins as Forest Science Editor-in-chief

 July 15, 2019

The Society of American Foresters today announced Dr. Scott D. Roberts, as Editor-in-chief of Forest Science. Dr. Roberts’ appointment for a three-year term will officially begin on July 15, 2019. Dr. Roberts follows Forest Science’s most recent editor, Dr. Keith Moser, who devotedly served as Editor-in-chief for the last eight years.

Dr. Roberts is a retired professor at Mississippi State University, where he specialized in silviculture and forest ecology. Dr. Roberts has served Forest Science since 2013 as the Applied Research Editor. Prior to that, he served as Editor of the Southern Journal of Applied Forestry from 2012 to 2013, and as an Associate Editor of that journal from 2008 to 2011.

“I am honored to have been selected as the Editor-in-chief for Forest Science,” Dr. Roberts said. “The current stature of Forest Science is due to the hard work of the previous editors, associate editors, authors, reviewers, and editorial staff, without whose efforts Forest Science would not have established itself as one of the top forestry-related scientific journals.” Dr. Roberts’ vision includes working with the SAF publications staff and the editorial board to enhance the overall stature of the Forest Science among its’ peer journals, while continuing its long history of excellence in scientific publishing. He envisions increased use of current and emerging technologies to enhance the value of the Forest Science to its readers.

“Dr. Roberts’ appointment comes at a time of great growth for SAF’s journals with our partnership with Oxford University Press. I am excited to see what evolves,” said Morgan Fincham, SAF’s Director of Publications.
