Long-Time Policy Director Departs SAF

July 18, 2019

John Barnwell has accepted a position as a natural resource officer at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC. His last day with SAF will be July 19th. John has been a key figure in SAF over the last eight years. His work in policy and coalition building has helped SAF and the profession of forestry speak with a more united voice. He has also served as interim CEO and helped guide the organization through critical transition periods.

"I have benefitted greatly from John’s experience and expertise," said SAF CEO Terry Baker. "He will be missed as a staff member, but we know he'll continue to be connected to our work in his new role and as a member in the National Capital SAF chapter. We wish John all the best."

Danielle Watson, who has been at SAF for six years working under John's guidance, will take on a new role as Director of Policy, Communications, and External Relations. Please reach out to Danielle for policy-related issues and questions.
