Resource Management Service, LLC Partners with Society of American Foresters to Award New Forestry Scholarship

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 7, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Resource Management Service, LLC (RMS) and the Society of American Foresters (SAF) announced on September 21 at the 2022 SAF National Convention that the 2022 recipient of their joint forestry scholarship is Sara Groban, a junior at California Polytechnic State University Humboldt (Cal Poly Humboldt).

Through their continued efforts to promote the forestry profession for future generations, RMS and SAF are jointly sponsoring a college scholarship program that is designed to support students who are members of demographic populations that are currently underrepresented in forestry, and who would benefit from receiving financial assistance, as they pursue their undergraduate degrees in forestry and associated fields. This opportunity includes a paid, full-time internship with RMS during the summer of 2023; a $10,000 scholarship that will be awarded annually for up to two years; and complimentary registration to the annual SAF National Convention.

“I am honored that RMS chose SAF to be a partner for this opportunity and what it means for our forestry and natural resources students,” said SAF CEO Terry Baker. “I applaud RMS for their investment in bringing and supporting broader voices and experiences to our profession to guide us into the future opportunities that will face our nation’s forests. Meeting the needs of an ever-changing population will require professionals who can not only speak and understand the forestry challenges, but the societal challenges that landowners, policy makers, businesses, and educational institutions face.”

“Our firm and employees have great respect and admiration for SAF – and specifically for what the organization does for the forestry profession,” said RMS President and CEO, Alex Hinson. “Managing the world’s forests sustainably and with a focus on conserving and enhancing their environmental, social and economic attributes is of importance to us all because it impacts the quality of life every American enjoys. The best way to ensure that this is broadly recognized is by also ensuring that the forestry profession reflects the diversity of the society and communities in which we live. That is the overriding objective of this scholarship program, and we are pleased to partner with SAF on such an important initiative.”
