Society of American Foresters chooses Springer Nature as its new publishing partner
October 25, 2024
We’re thrilled to announce that we have officially named Springer Nature as our new publishing partner for the Journal of Forestry and Forest Science. These journals will join Springer Nature’s portfolio of nearly 3,000 titles, giving authors publishing Open Access (OA) unprecedented visibility and engagement with their work.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the dissemination of interdisciplinary research in topics related to forestry and natural resources management. Both Springer Nature and SAF are dedicated to driving knowledge forward, with a shared focus on sustainability and innovation.
Why This Partnership Matters
Mireille Yanow, Director of Society and Partners at Springer Nature, emphasized the importance of this partnership in enhancing the reach and impact of forestry research:
“Springer Nature offers a rich and varied portfolio of journals that complements SAF’s eminent forestry titles. Sustainable responsibility is a key focus of ours. Since 2015, we have published more than 940,000 articles and book chapters with SDG-related content, providing evidence-based knowledge to support decisions made by policy makers, business leaders, and practitioners. We are delighted to be partnering with SAF to continue their mission to publish high-quality research helping to address the world’s urgent challenges.”
For more than a century, SAF has represented a wide network of forestry and natural resource professionals. Its two flagship journals, Forest Science and The Journal of Forestry, have played a crucial role in advancing knowledge on sustainable forest management, and they will continue to be essential platforms for addressing issues like climate change, conservation, and urban forestry under Springer Nature's stewardship.
The first issues of these journals under the new partnership will be available starting in January 2025.
Looking Ahead
Submissions are now open for both The Journal of Forestry and Forest Science. Researchers can look forward to increased reach and engagement, supported by Springer Nature's extensive publishing network.
Stay tuned for the first issues in early 2025! For more information, visit the journals' homepages or learn more about Springer Nature’s society partnerships and sustainability initiatives.
